Accreditation
We are accredited under BS EN ISO 20387:2020+A11:2024 "Biotechnology — Biobanking — General requirements for biobanking" by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service ('UKAS') customer (number 31342). UKAS is the national accreditation body and our notified body.
Oxford Biovault intends to extend its accreditations to include ISO 17025 to bring additional testing within scope. This will be relevant to any testing performed on behalf of biobank customers. Urinalysis is already in scope under 20387.
Our story
Oxford Biovault was born out of Serox - the diagnostics company. When our clinical partners saw the facility we had created, they asked if they could use it. This has organically developed into a stand-alone service for the Oxford life science cluster, and beyond. Having a foot in both the world of spin-outs and research departments, we are well-versed in their needs and challenges.

Founder and Chair
Physics, Princeton; DPhil in Atomic & Laser Physics, Oxford, focused on quantum computing. Applied Raman spectroscopy first to fine wine, authenticating bottles without opening them, then to biofluids. Founder & CEO, Serox; co-founder & co-chair, Oxford Venture Angels.
CEO
Strategy consultant turned early-stage deep-tech founder. Built two Oxford spin-outs from scratch: Metaboards, wireless charging, raised to Series A; and gaitQ, a Parkinson's wearable taken from prototype to market. Engineering PhD, Cambridge.
COO
18 years at the John Radcliffe running point-of care testing and the screening laboratory for Oxford University Hospitals. UKAS technical assessor. Led our FDA pre-submission and the ISO 20387 accreditation of our biobank
